National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) has a remarkably clear goal – zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030. To reach this goal, NBCF requires vital donor support to fund breakthrough scientific research.
Marlin was approached to provide recommendations for how the charity could engage and inspire past and existing supporters to keep giving – particularly regular donors.
We wanted to make people feel sincerely valued and understood. We believed that those giving would regard breast cancer as an issue they cared deeply about. We wanted to develop something that showed we understood that giving to breast cancer research reflected who they were, their experiences, and their hopes for the future.
We proposed a newsletter that looks more like a lifestyle magazine. The title of the magazine reflects the goal that the supporters share with the charity “towards zero”. But also frames the sentiment of the relationship – both the donor and the Foundation are determined to keep making steps towards a future where loved ones do not die. Inside are articles from fellow supporters, from researchers, and useful advice for the supporter.
What made it Marlin?
Every issue of Towards Zero is filled with a mix of news, research updates and uplifting stories that are informative, inspiring and leave donors feeling that they are truly a valued part of the NBCF community.
